And she didn’t do anything to help stop them OR the prank that was going on for that matter. So Faragonda did know the Trix were there. Girl, keep your focus at the right place! Instead of asking why they had to fight them at all she’s busy calculating a scenario that will never happen. Even Tecna who is supposed to be the logical one. The fairies have good intentions but are shit at rationalizing. What the hell is up with Darcy’s tentacles of darkness, though? Where did these come from? And isn’t anyone going to wonder why the Trix were there? Surely they didn’t miss fighting with the Winx enough to make it such a public affair. Took them long enough to figure out Darcy was missing the whole time.
“Fairies and witches do not mix,” says Griffin even though she always accepts the invitation and is besties with Faragonda despite them being a witch and a fairy respectively. (Can’t they cast a bubble or something over the whole venue that doesn’t allow anyone inside to use magic? That could help.)
Though, perhaps it’s a matter of her belief that things will be better this year that has her repeating that mistake. Faragonda knows damn well the witches will try something, yet she still invites them to Alfea every year to have a joined opening of the school year. I agree with Griffin on this one as well. Faragonda actually is more concerned with the prank rather than with the fact that there are escaped convicts on the grounds of her school. The Mirta and Lucy thing was cute, though I am once again baffled by the fact that no one is reacting to the battle between Winx and Trix. I have to say that if I were Icy or Stormy, I would attack the frogs to distract Winx and then strike. the way Icy’s heels dug into the ground! Epic levels of badassery! And Flora and Layla were caring enough to gather all the frogs at a safe place. This battle is actually super awesome! What I wouldn’t give for all the battles to be like that! The Musa vs Stormy moment was so cool and before that Icy vs Stella. That was really cool! I wish they could have been creative like that more often. I like the effects of magic, though - the way light started coating Stella’s finger and then Icy’s ice block caught Stella’s light and started throwing light beams everywhere. I don’t care much about the original Believix transformation so I don’t really care about the changes they’ve made to it in this movie. Please, for the sake of logic!- I love how Winx avoided the first attack without being transformed and showed some acrobatic skills. People should at least do something when they see them. They are both infamous and wanted criminals. Okay, so the Trix just appeared and literally no one but Winx reacted? I know the mess with the fairies-into-frogs was going down right at that time but come on! People, and especially Griffin and Faragonda, kept not reacting to it even when Winx started fighting them. Also, that advice is probably counterproductive for her lessons since her students won’t want to do homework on their own and will try spelling each other into it. Though, maybe I’d settle for a middle ground of having magic do them for you instead of using magic to force someone else to do them. Plus, I have to agree with Griffin that wasting time on chores is no fun. Every time Faragonda tries to teach the fairies something good, Griffin undermines it and it’s absolutely hilarious. I love that Faragonda and Griffin here are essentially the “You’re a terrible influence” “You need me” quote. Unlike Erendor where “rude” does not even begin to cover it. I think it might be a little too early for a wedding or at least too soon after Domino was brought back to life but I appreciate that they actually think about what their daughter wants. I love the fact that Oritel and Marion actually react like normal people to the possibility of a wedding (mainly Oritel). But of course, why would we consider the time line?
They didn’t have to make it all beginnings of the school year. Or at least SotLK and season 4 overlap and this is the school year after that. Between SotLK, season 4 and this movie, we’ve had three starts of school years and considering that Lucy and Mirta are still here, I’d say all three of those are actually supposed to be the same school year in in-verse time. Aaaaand it’s another opening of the school year. I understand they needed an opening but I doubt anyone who watches this doesn’t know about Alfea/Cloud Tower and fairies/witches so they could have cut that part and started with Winx arriving at the scene.

I live-blogged my reactions to the movie the first time I watched it but it was more me just expressing my shock over things rather than actually processing them so this will be more of a review format. Here I come with a more official set of thoughts on Magical Adventure.
